Forest School

Alongside the development of Mike’s Meadow, our outdoor learning environment, Batheaston Church School has established a Forest School programme that involves all classes from Reception to Year 6 across the school year. Sessions are led by an experienced Forest School leader, and include all children, teaching assistants and volunteer parent helpers. The focus of this long-term inclusive programme is to embed learning outdoors within the everyday experience of all the teaching staff and children and to link learning inside and outside the classroom.

'Having helped with Forest School for sometime now, I realise that my original concept of it was way too simplistic. I have watched children make up stories and then act them out, create a whole world, build shelters, make money to buy and sell things they have made. Their games have involved maths, English, PE, art and design and many other subjects that could be taught in a classroom ... they have no idea that they are learning so much. The transformation and progression of their ideas through out the term is amazing and an absolute joy to watch.' (Parent Volunteer)

Mike’s Meadow is a wonderful outdoor resource providing a rich environment for play and learning. For information on hiring Mike’s Meadow, please contact the school for details on: 01225 858555 or by email: office@batheaston.bwmat.org
